This episode will definitely be one where you want to take notes so get ready cause we’re diving right now!

EC: Tell us a little bit about how you started Social Savvy!

I started Social Savvy at the end of 2018. I relocated in 2018 for a job, and towards the end of my role at that job, things were getting rocky at the company. I started freelancing after that, although it was really scary. I had a lot of imposter syndrome, and didn’t have a ton of confidence in making freelancing a full time job. I started doing everything at first — designing websites, taking photos, creating content, etc. I became burnt out and I realized what I really loved doing was developing content on a social media platform.

Why should someone hire a social media agency?

It’s so important to have an agency that has a few different experts that are able to handle every aspect of your social media. An agency can look at the big picture to see where does social media fit into your overall marketing plan. It’s important to create that strategy from the jump, and then making sure any of the content is running smoothly. Social media can have glitches, so making sure things are running smoothly is so important. There are also always new trends to be aware of, so having an agency can really play into having that expert in your back pocket.

How can you identify your target follower's needs and interests to create content that resonates with them?

Jessica: Your content will do well if you know your audience. Personally, I like to dig into this when we onboard new clients. I can’t piece together the other components of a social media strategy without these answers. I ask my clients very in depth questions and I always get feedback that they love these questions. These questions help me get a better idea of the business owner and their interests, their clients, the business itself.

How can someone avoid sounding "too salesy" on social media?

Jessica: A lot of businesses do not want to sound too salesy on social media because it sounds inauthentic. Instead of focusing on selling and focus on serving our followers, your followers will notice that. Think about how can I show up on social media every day and serve my followers?

Overall, we talked about so many other interesting topics that you don’t want to miss on the episode! Listen to Episode 47 now.
